The Demo is near

Greetings, fellow homo sapiens (and anyone else who may be reading).

I'm sitting at work (don't tell me boss) with nothing to do, listening to the stuff we've been recording, and let me tell you, it sounds AWFUL!

Okay, just a joke. It's not that bad.  I actually kind of like. A lot. I friggin' love it!  I've been learning a few things here and there about recording and mixing (thanks, Google), and the songs are really seeing the fruits of my websurfing.

The demo is going to be four songs long, and gets progressively harder and more aggressive. We've finished drum tracks on three of them, and (hopefully) will finish the fourth tonight.  Then it's just guitars, bass, and vocals.  The vocals will be tricky, but I'm hoping that we get everything done by the end of next week. Oh wow, how nice that would be!

As soon as the demo's out, we'll be sending to every venue we can possibly think of (mostly in southern alberta, but we wanna hit the road and get touring next summer, so we'll be shipping them all over the country and into the northwestern US), so hopefully we'll have some shows spring up because of it!  We'll also post the demo here, on facebook, and myspace, as well as some live video on youtube (that should be going up pretty quick).

Oh, and the Tshirts are great!  We've sold 16, and are nearly broken even! If you want a sweet WTF T-shirt, drop me an email or a FB message or a phone call or a text or a snail mail letter or a postcard or a sticky note on my bedroom wall or a comment to this post or if you yell really loud i may hear it too.

That's it for today.  Thanks for keeping up with us, I promise we'll have some music and some more shows for you real soon!

Blake

PS, The show on Friday at the New Black was wicked.  Thanks again to everyone who showed up, who helped out in anyway, who bought a shirt, who yelled "hey" in that one song, or who even thought about coming!

Typing on an iPhone is not what I'd call efficient

I'm sitting on a toilet right now. A toilet in raymond.

Was that relevant? Necessary, even? Nope. But I wanted to tell you anyway.

We've been recording all week, and it's coming along slowly but surely. It's not an easy process, even though it's just a crappy demo and we don't mind a few mistakes. I guess we're all perfectionists and have a tough time accepting the crap of a crappy recording.

The toughest part of the whole process is vocals! How the freak does one record vocals that sound any good? Anyone out there have any secrets for BEGINNING recorders? We could use some help.

Oh, I almost forgot! I brought a copy of one of our songs down to Raymon with me, and played it on my parents theatre system. We threw some 808 blasts in there, and it sounds AWESOME! it's like a T-Rex tromping around Jurassic park, eating lawyers and flipping cars. Freakin wicked!

Well, that's about it for now! CNt wait to see you at the show on Friday, Its gonna be rad!

Getting PUMPED!

Ok, it's about that time. The moment you've all been waiting for.... THAT'S RIGHT!! We've got a show booked! We'll be playing at the New Black Centre on November the 19th. Be there, or you shall surely be square.
This new jam space has been sweet for full band practices. However, we're still trying to find a more permanent place to reside.  We've been working really hard on perfecting the new songs we've come up with. We've hit a couple of minor bumps in the road. One of which was somehow discovering a dark, ominous, black hole in music. It's a good thing we all get along so well now, because if we found this black hole earlier in the life of the band, it would have turned us all against one another! lol Not really, but it's a touchy subject for sure. It's a debate of where to come in with lyrics on what part of the measure. We have recorded both ways of playing it, and if you would like to give us your feedback, come find my phone and I'll play it for you.
We're also hoping to record verrrryyy soon. Thursday, being a holiday, we might actually get the chance to spend some serious time on this!
So mark the 19th on your calenders, day timers, phones, diaries, hands, faces... where ever you'll look so you won't forget! We'll see ya'll then!

This is sick

Okay, I don't have a ton to write about right now, but I'm totally in the mood, and had to put something down.

We had a deadly practice on Saturday (Christine put up the documentaritative pictures).  The songs are coming along really nicely.  We've got five complete, two in the works, and a few more that will come into being as soon as the other two are finished. We're all really excited about them, and we hope you are too.

We're currently in the market for a kick-A jam space; somewhere we can use any time of the day or night without getting on anyones nerves.  Do you know a place? Let us know!

Not much else to write here, except for the fact that I (and I think I can speak for everyone else in the band) am CRAZY excited. The band seems to be taking off, making some great progress. Thank you to everyone for your support, we really couldn't be doing any of this without you!  Keep reading the blogs, coming to our shows, asking for recordings (We're working on that, but keep putting the pressure on), finding us shows, anything you can to help us get moving would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks again

Blake

PS I'm eating hardboiled eggs at 1:35 AM.  They're delicious.

Saturday Jam.... or was it jelly?

Check it out! The location for our full, electric jam was in a sweet shop that we were able to utilize for the day.

The sound at the beginning was a little off because the space was so big, but we got nice and friendly (as we usually do) and squished the set back a bit, making it a pretty sweet place to let the creative juices flow.

I had alot of fun taking some pics!! I'm just that creepy groupie that comes to all the jams and sits on the side, contributing a joke or a comment or some feedback every once and a while. ;) I was just using a PS moblie app so dont judge... I am in no way a skilled photographist.

Meet Kobe. This is our mascot/ replacement-if-anyone-sucks/ Paige's dog. We love him. He's an important member of the band.

Over and out.
