Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I've just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you, to stop what you're doing and listen...
TWO DEMO TRACKS ARE NOW OFFICIALLY COMPLETE!! So, it's not horrifying. It's rather exciting. The band put alot of time and effort into these two tracks. We had a dead line to enter a battle of the bands contest, so there was a lot of pressure near the end to put together what we had. Everyone worked really hard to perfect each of their areas of expertise. Blake, then spent countless hours in his home studio mixing it all. Stress aside, it was alot of fun trying to figure out how to record these tracks to make them sound best. Case and point, we ended up sticking Paige in a closet that we picked a dead mouse out of. Not to worry, however, cause Blake bought a polka dotted blanket for sound proofing, and stuck it directly infront of her for something fun to look at! :)
CHECK OUT THESE DEMO TRACKS ON OUR MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/withoutthefall
We've got more songs that we're dying to show you guys. We're hoping to put together a full CD in the near future so keep a look out for that!
We're looking forward to 2011! Wow.. 2011... that was weird to even type out... Anyway, it should be a year of much rocking out. Stay tuned, cause Without The Fall has got some big plans that will blow your minds!!
Thanks for your continued support! We wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!!

Mixing is Suck
So here I am, sitting in my room, trying to mix the two songs we'll have on the demo. This is no easy task. Who ever thought of mixing, anyway? Cruel and unusual punishment, that's what this is. Freak. Getting volumes just perfect, balancing bass so it sounds great in the realm it's supposed to, making crappy guitar parts sound less like crappy. Add on top of it my complete lack of knowledge about mixing, and my extremely insensitive musical ear, you've got a recipe for SOMEONE DO THIS FOR ME!!!
Gotta get back to work!

The Demo is near
Greetings, fellow homo sapiens (and anyone else who may be reading).
I'm sitting at work (don't tell me boss) with nothing to do, listening to the stuff we've been recording, and let me tell you, it sounds AWFUL!
Okay, just a joke. It's not that bad. I actually kind of like. A lot. I friggin' love it! I've been learning a few things here and there about recording and mixing (thanks, Google), and the songs are really seeing the fruits of my websurfing.
The demo is going to be four songs long, and gets progressively harder and more aggressive. We've finished drum tracks on three of them, and (hopefully) will finish the fourth tonight. Then it's just guitars, bass, and vocals. The vocals will be tricky, but I'm hoping that we get everything done by the end of next week. Oh wow, how nice that would be!
As soon as the demo's out, we'll be sending to every venue we can possibly think of (mostly in southern alberta, but we wanna hit the road and get touring next summer, so we'll be shipping them all over the country and into the northwestern US), so hopefully we'll have some shows spring up because of it! We'll also post the demo here, on facebook, and myspace, as well as some live video on youtube (that should be going up pretty quick).
Oh, and the Tshirts are great! We've sold 16, and are nearly broken even! If you want a sweet WTF T-shirt, drop me an email or a FB message or a phone call or a text or a snail mail letter or a postcard or a sticky note on my bedroom wall or a comment to this post or if you yell really loud i may hear it too.
That's it for today. Thanks for keeping up with us, I promise we'll have some music and some more shows for you real soon!
Blake
PS, The show on Friday at the New Black was wicked. Thanks again to everyone who showed up, who helped out in anyway, who bought a shirt, who yelled "hey" in that one song, or who even thought about coming!

Typing on an iPhone is not what I'd call efficient
I'm sitting on a toilet right now. A toilet in raymond.
Was that relevant? Necessary, even? Nope. But I wanted to tell you anyway.
We've been recording all week, and it's coming along slowly but surely. It's not an easy process, even though it's just a crappy demo and we don't mind a few mistakes. I guess we're all perfectionists and have a tough time accepting the crap of a crappy recording.
The toughest part of the whole process is vocals! How the freak does one record vocals that sound any good? Anyone out there have any secrets for BEGINNING recorders? We could use some help.
Oh, I almost forgot! I brought a copy of one of our songs down to Raymon with me, and played it on my parents theatre system. We threw some 808 blasts in there, and it sounds AWESOME! it's like a T-Rex tromping around Jurassic park, eating lawyers and flipping cars. Freakin wicked!
Well, that's about it for now! CNt wait to see you at the show on Friday, Its gonna be rad!

Getting PUMPED!
Ok, it's about that time. The moment you've all been waiting for.... THAT'S RIGHT!! We've got a show booked! We'll be playing at the New Black Centre on November the 19th. Be there, or you shall surely be square.
This new jam space has been sweet for full band practices. However, we're still trying to find a more permanent place to reside. We've been working really hard on perfecting the new songs we've come up with. We've hit a couple of minor bumps in the road. One of which was somehow discovering a dark, ominous, black hole in music. It's a good thing we all get along so well now, because if we found this black hole earlier in the life of the band, it would have turned us all against one another! lol Not really, but it's a touchy subject for sure. It's a debate of where to come in with lyrics on what part of the measure. We have recorded both ways of playing it, and if you would like to give us your feedback, come find my phone and I'll play it for you.
We're also hoping to record verrrryyy soon. Thursday, being a holiday, we might actually get the chance to spend some serious time on this!
So mark the 19th on your calenders, day timers, phones, diaries, hands, faces... where ever you'll look so you won't forget! We'll see ya'll then!

This is sick
Okay, I don't have a ton to write about right now, but I'm totally in the mood, and had to put something down.
We had a deadly practice on Saturday (Christine put up the documentaritative pictures). The songs are coming along really nicely. We've got five complete, two in the works, and a few more that will come into being as soon as the other two are finished. We're all really excited about them, and we hope you are too.
We're currently in the market for a kick-A jam space; somewhere we can use any time of the day or night without getting on anyones nerves. Do you know a place? Let us know!
Not much else to write here, except for the fact that I (and I think I can speak for everyone else in the band) am CRAZY excited. The band seems to be taking off, making some great progress. Thank you to everyone for your support, we really couldn't be doing any of this without you! Keep reading the blogs, coming to our shows, asking for recordings (We're working on that, but keep putting the pressure on), finding us shows, anything you can to help us get moving would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again
Blake
PS I'm eating hardboiled eggs at 1:35 AM. They're delicious.

Saturday Jam.... or was it jelly?
Check it out! The location for our full, electric jam was in a sweet shop that we were able to utilize for the day.
The sound at the beginning was a little off because the space was so big, but we got nice and friendly (as we usually do) and squished the set back a bit, making it a pretty sweet place to let the creative juices flow.
I had alot of fun taking some pics!! I'm just that creepy groupie that comes to all the jams and sits on the side, contributing a joke or a comment or some feedback every once and a while. ;) I was just using a PS moblie app so dont judge... I am in no way a skilled photographist.
Meet Kobe. This is our mascot/ replacement-if-anyone-sucks/ Paige's dog. We love him. He's an important member of the band.
Over and out.

Reminissions
Did I spell that right?
I just got home from the dance that made our halloween show an impossibility. Adrian, Christine and I drove home from the dance together, totally bummed that we couldn't play today. The halloween atmosphere is the perfect venue for some deadly hardpopmetalrock music.
That being said, we've been writing like crazy, and I think (hope?) that everyone will really like what we've been coming up with. We all like it a lot. Some of it is not what any of us would expect; we've been playing with some jazz and swing music. Should be great though.
Christine is correct, Prechorus Jones is driving me mad. I'm sure you'll see why soon (hopefully mid November, we may or may not have a gig with The Rocket House).
Well, I've got to be up in five hours, so I'm gonna hit the sack. We've got a jam sesh tomorrow, polish up some songs so we suck a little bit less for the next gig.
Goodnight!

Any ideas?
Also, Danny Roy is a wizard.
Let me explain.
He expressed to us that the font we had on our blog was amateur and went ahead creating some different font ideas for the band and posted them on his Facebook page. Check them out and give us some feed back! We'd love to hear any other ideas you guys might have for the band as well! Post it on our blog, our FB page, or even our FB group.
Thanks!

Weekend Wonders
Guess who had a birthday?!! Paige!! She is so old now! She jumped decades. No longer in her teens... in her 20's!! Whoa... We had a jam on the day of her birth (Saturday). Morning practices can be tough, but since we were celebrating the success of Paige not dying for 20 years, we brought fruit, cinnamon buns, and ice cream cake which made things bareable. We planned a jam session at the stake centre so we could do a full set practice, but disaster struck when Burns got called into work. So, instead we decided to jam at Paiges house and just do an acoustic practice and put some lyrics to a song we've been working on.
Which brings us to Prechorus Jones. He's this CRAZY guy that we've been writing a song about. Turns out, he's also driving US crazy. We worked on this song for the majority of the day, having fits of laughter, brain farts, talking about non-sence, and coming to no conclusion. Prechorus will slowly drive us all mad. I'm sure of it.
Blake is still regurgitaing a ton of music. As posted earlier, he's not sleeping. Just laying down tracks on garage band. He'll then bring the music to practices and Burns, Adrian, and Paige will come up with some sick lyrics and melody. This process seems to be working really well, and they should be ready to record some demos so we can send them out to some venues and get playing more shows!
Continue to stay tuned for more, WITHOUT THE FALL.
That's all for now folks!

The Wee Hours
Good morning!
It's 3:51 AM. I've been trying to sleep for the last few hours - make that days - to no avail. Don't get me wrong - I have been sleeping, but not during the hours I'd like to be. I'm trying to hit the sack by midnight every night, which has been a huge failure, as you can see. I've been putting full-time hours into the band - mostly writing - and it's paying off. We're creating some deadly songs that we're all really proud of. It's amazing what we can do with some talent (Paige) and caffeine.
I tried to go to bed earlier today, but these songs are racing through my noggin like dogs chasing a rabbit on a rail. I really hope you like them when we finally get to debut.
In other news, I wrote a super awesome post last night (early this morning?), and it didn't save and didn't post. I'm not going to write it again. No way. You'll just have to take my word for it. Tell all your friends about the hilarious, really cool post I wrote that was deleted so no one will ever read it.

Keepin' it real...
Well, its that time of year. Halloween. The holiday where the boundary between the living and the dead dissolves, and the dead become dangerous for the living. Candy becomes a staple food in our diets, and the opportunity to play dress up is not only socially acceptable, but expected. Ya. We're stoked.
Unfortunately we had to cancel our Halloween show at New Black. The YSA dance happens to be that same night and people had expressed their desires to attend. Fear not. We'll deliver next year.
The band has been writing like crazy! We've got some sick riffs on guitar and the group has been able to put amazing melodies and lyrics to the music. It's amazing what we are able to accomplish in what seems like no time at all. We are hoping to have either an EP or a full album come out before the end of the year. With things going the way they are, this seems like a very realistic goal.
Anyway...This is just a quick update to let everyone know what we're up to! Keep checking in with us and we'll keep you posted on whats going on with the band and other fun local events we hear about!
